Describe ways in which care coordination can generate cost savings.

Prepare a spreadsheet of cost savings data showing efficiency gains attributable to care coordination over the course of one fiscal year, and report your key findings in an executive summary, 4–5 pages in length.

As the senior care coordinator in your organization, your manager has asked you to examine and report on how care coordination can generate cost savings, improve outcomes, enhance the collection of evidence-based data, and improve health care quality for the community. She would like you to compile cost savings data in a well-organized spreadsheet and present your key findings in an executive summary.

Determine how care coordination can reduce costs. Compile your cost savings data in a spreadsheet, using Microsoft Excel or a suitable application of your choice. (If you elect to use an application other than Excel, check with faculty to avoid potential file compatibility issues.) Your spreadsheet should contain at least four cost-saving elements. Identify the cost-saving element, current costs, and anticipated savings.

  • Describe ways in which care coordination can generate cost savings.
    • What are your primary evidence-based sources of information?
    • Are your conclusions substantiated by the data?
    • What assumptions, if any, underlie your analysis?
  • Explain how care coordination can promote improved health consumerism and effect positive health outcomes.
    • What evidence do you have to substantiate your claims?
  • Describe at least five ways in which care coordination efforts can enhance the collection of evidence-based data and improve quality through the application of an emerging health care model.
    • Choose any emerging health care model.
  • Present cost savings data and information clearly and accurately.

Calculating Inventory Turnover portion of the chapter closely whereby the cost of goods sold divided by the average inventory equals the inventory turnover.

week 4 8-1 thru 8-5 9-1 9-2
Order Description
Study the Calculating Inventory Turnover portion of the chapter closely whereby the cost of goods sold divided by the average inventory equals the inventory
turnover.
Required
Compute two inventory turnover calculations as follows:1. Use the LIFO information in the previous assignment to first compute the average inventory and then to
compute the inventory turnover. 2. Use the FIFO information in the previous assignment to first compute the average inventory and then to compute the inventory
turnover.
Practice Exercise 8I: Depreciation Concept
Assume that MHS purchased equipment for $600000 cash on April 1 (the first day of its fiscal year). This equipment has an expected life of 10 years. The salvage value
is 10% of cost. No equipment was traded in on this purchase.
Required
1. Compute the straight-line depreciation for this purchase. 2. Compute the double-declining balance depreciation for this purchase.
Assume that MHS purchased two additional pieces of equipment on April 1 (the first day of its fiscal year) as follows:1. The laboratory equipment cost $300000 and
has an expected life of = years. The salvage value is 5% of cost. No equipment was traded in on this purchase. 2. The radiology equipment cost $800000 and has an
expected life of 7 years. The salvage value is 10% of cost. No equipment was traded in on this purchase.
Set up a purchase scenario of your own and compute the depreciation with and without salvage value.
The Metropolis Health System managers are also working on their budgets for next year. Each manager must annualize his or her staffing plan and thus must convert
staff net paid days worked to a factor. Each manager has the MHS worksheet which shows 9 holidays 7 sick days 15 vacation days and 3 education days equaling 34
paid days per year not worked.
The Laboratory is fully staffed 7 days per week and the 34 paid days per year not worked is applicable for the lab. The Medical Records department is also fully
staffed 7 days per week. However Medical Records is an outsourced department so the employee benefits are somewhat different. The Medical Records employees receive 9
holidays plus 21 personal leave days which can be used for any purpose.
Required
1. Compute net paid days worked for a full-time employee in the Laboratory and in Medical Records. 2. Convert net paid days worked to a factor for the Laboratory and
for Medical Records so these MHS managers can annualize their staffing plans.
Metropolis Health System (MHS) uses a basic work week of 40 hours throughout the system. Thus one full-time employee works 40 hours per week. MHS also uses a standard
24-hour scheduling system of three 8-hour shifts. The Director of Nursing needs to compute the staffing requirements to fill the Operating Room (OR) positions. Since
MHS is a trauma center the OR is staffed 24 hours a day 7 days a week. At present staffing is identical for all 7 days of the week although the Director of Nursing
is questioning the efficiency of this method.
The Operating Room department is staffed with two nursing supervisors on the day shift and one nursing supervisor apiece on the evening and night shifts. There are two
technicians on the day shift two technicians on the evening shift and one technician on the night shift. There are three RNs on the day shift two RNs on the evening
shift and one RN plus one LPN on the night shift. In addition there is one aide plus one clerical worker on the day shift only.
Required
1. Set up a staffing requirements worksheet using the format in Exhibit 94. 2. Compute the number of FTEs required to fill the Operating Room staffing positions.

Is the high resting heart rate, intermittent arrhythmia and high blood pressure associated with the increased catecholamine production of the adrenal medulla?

Unit 7 Discussion Question
Unidentified Condition: Adrenalin, Heart Rate, Blood Pressure, Hypertensive Retinopathy

Estimated time to complete: 1 hour
Throughout the discussions in this course we will be focusing on one single condition; gradually unfolding week by week how this condition can grossly affect the entire human body and its systems.
The goal of the course discussions is primarily, to build upon the skill of differential diagnosis and secondary, to give a clear view as to how a single pathological process can possess the ability to affect an entire human organism.
Each week you will be presented with varying components of a new system being adversely affected by the unidentified condition. Your task as a healthcare professional in training, is to thoroughly research and envelop yourself within the process of differential diagnosis to arrive at a definitive diagnosis at the end of the course in week 8.
In phase one of the discussion, you will be tasked with presenting your researched information into a video or written presentation answering the questions below, while also considering your response and symptom presentation from weeks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
Video presentations should be a minimum of three minutes in length and should not exceed four minutes.  Written presentations should be a minimum of 2-3 paragraphs per each diagnosed condition (3 conditions minimum).
Symptom Presentation:

Adrenalin: Increased epinephrine (catecholamine production) from the adrenal medulla
Heart Rate: Increased resting heart rate with intermittent bursts of arrhythmia
Blood Pressure: Systemic hypertension reported over the past 8 months
Hypertensive Retinopathy: arteriolar constriction, vascular wall changes, cotton-wool spots, yellow hard exudates, and optic disk edema

Previously, you researched and considered three conditions through the process of differential diagnosis that would present with varying abnormalities in homeostasis, metabolism, triglycerides and DNA in week 1. Abnormalities in oxidation, plasma and tissue enzyme activity, inflammation and alopecia respectively in week 2. Increased cortisol and demonstrated bone loss in week 3. Fibromyalgia and muscle atrophy in week 4. Increased glutamate and memory loss in week 5 and neurogenic inflammation in week 6. Given the new symptom presentation above, consider and answer the following questions within a video or written presentation:
If choosing a written presentation, create a 2-3 paragraphs per each of the questions listed below.

1)Is the high resting heart rate, intermittent arrhythmia and high blood pressure associated with the increased catecholamine production of the adrenal medulla? Rationalize and explain your answer.
2)Would hypertensive retinopathy be associated with an acute or chronic disease state? Explain your answer.
3)What is your final diagnosis? Has your diagnosis changed from previous weeks? Rationalize and explain how and why you have arrived at your final diagnosis?
written presentation, please be certain to validate your opinions and ideas while disclosing the sources utilized within your written presentation (APA format).

Evaluate service level agreement (SLA)

1. Evaluate service level agreement (SLA)• 2. What is an SLA?• SLA is defined as contract between a service supplier and interior or exterior customers that reports what facilities the supplier will provide and defines the services standards is obligated to meet..2.1. Research the SLAs of two cloud vendors, such as Rackspace, Amazon, or Google.a. For the vendors you selected, what are the SLAs’ uptime percent?b. Does each vendor count both scheduled downtime and planned downtime toward the SLA uptime percent?c. Compare the SLAs in terms of two other criteria.3. Do some research on cloud computing and explain the terms SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS. What areThe benefits of each? Cite your sources.• SaaS-? Software as a Service: in this software the third part hosts application and makes them available to customers over the internet. This software is considered to be one of the three main categories of could computing. SaaS offers many advantages, few of the advantage it offers are: lower up-front cos: no upfront license fees.• PaaS?Platform as a Service: is this cloud computing model the-party supplier delivers hardware and software tools: Platform suppliers hosts the hardware and software on its own infrastructure. PaaS lets users to install internal hardware and software to develop or run a new application.• IaaS? Infrastructure as a Service: is this software the hardware is being provided by external provider and managed for you. It saves money on servers: you can use IaaS on local area network for business or private cloud, without spending money on physical servers and network resources.4. How do factors such as culture, lifestyle, age, education, occupation, mode of travel, or location affect how people imagine the city differently?

Description
By now you have hopefully visited your field sites at least once and have begun to look into sources for background historical research. Here are some suggestions for what you should be working on during this module.
• Continue making worthwhile visits to your field sites.
◦ Jot down observation notes in your notebook (the more you have the easier your paper will be to write).
◦ Take photos and/or collect other graphic representations that will be good for your paper,
• During this time you could also be visiting a library and finding a good book or two related to the history of the area you are studying. There are probably many fascinating stories related to the places or people you are researching that you can learn about and share! You can use the Internet as well, but you must use valid sites (no Wikipedia or amateur/opinionated blogs).
• Creating an outline is highly recommended as it really does give structure and guidance while you put everything together and create a coherent product.
• Keep in mind the paper will be structured around addressing the three provided guiding questions that ask you to focus on symbolic interaction, social psychology, and how relevant historical events or ideas relate to current observations:

1 How do symbols affect social behavior and interaction?
2 How do factors such as culture, lifestyle, age, education, occupation, mode of travel, or location affect how people imagine the city differently?
3 How do events from the past connect to current phenomena in these neighborhoods?
• You don’t have to worry about interviewing people this time around (though you can if you like, of course).
• Similar to the Midterm Project, your selected key terms from the word bank must be in bold print and explained clearly (using unique definitions that demonstrate clear understanding) to an imagined reader who has no understanding of sociological terms. These terms need to be relevant to your observations and should be integrated throughout the paper and not bunched up in the first paragraph or so. Definitions should be either in footnotes, text boxes or endnotes.

What are your general values related to the nature of humankind and society?

NUR 3805 – Dimensions of Professional Nursing Practice

Philosophy of Nursing Assignment Guidelines and Grading Rubric

Purpose: Some of you may just be entering the field of nursing—with the ink on your RN license barely dry, while others of you have been career nurses for several years. Whatever point you are in your nursing career, it is important to reflect on what nursing means to you. Your philosophy of nursing is a deeply personal journey that is influenced by your personal beliefs and values, your family and culture, education, and your career goals and experiences. All these factors contribute to who you are, what you believe, and how you act. Writing your philosophy is a process that may change along your professional career. This assignment challenges you to develop and articulate your personal philosophy of nursing, and describe the ideas of published authors that influence your beliefs and views of nursing.

Prepare: Read, “Articulating your philosophy of nursing” by Janice Denehy (http://jsn.sagepub.com/content/17/1/1.short?rss=1&ssource=mfr)

Find a quiet space to ponder these questions:

· What are your general values related to the nature of humankind and society?

· What are your values and beliefs that relate to the profession of nursing? To health and illness? To healthcare recipients? To community? To other topics or concepts that define your practice as a nurse?

· Who and what influenced your values and beliefs?

· How do your personal beliefs and values relate to your perspectives on nursing?

Content: Address the following topics in a brief (no more than 3 pages, double-spaced) paper:

· Introduce your nursing career choice, current practice, and vision of your future as a nurse.

· Describe your general beliefs and values related to humankind and society—values that give direction to your journey in life.

· Describe your values and beliefs that relate to nursing profession. Include perspectives on nursing, health and illness, recipients of care, and any other concepts you feel define your practice as a nurse.

· Describe (and cite source) of at least TWO published works that influenced or ground your perspectives and/or define your practice as a nurse.

· Describe how your personal beliefs and values relate to your ideas about nursing.

Format: This will be your first “official” APA format paper for the RN-BSN program. You will be expected to develop an accurately formatted paper with title page, abstract, body of paper and reference sections. The paper should have 1” margins and be double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12-point font. A Sample APA Paper with further guidelines is included in the Student Resources module, and can be used as a template for this paper.

Discussion: Based on the ideas and perspectives articulated in your Nursing Philosophy paper, develop and post a short (100 words or less) statement that reflects your personal and professional values—a Nursing Philosophy Statement. See detailed instructions on Discussion assignment.
