Significant differences between the needs of distinctive workplace cultures can substantially impact wellness management decisions. In this assessment you will analyze differing workplace cultures and suggest a wellness plan for each specific worksite. This assessment contains two parts. Part 1 Instructions Use the Social Competencies in Worksite Wellness Table, linked in the Assessment Resources, to compare and contrast the typical wellness needs of employees in each of the following workplace settings: A large automotive plant in Detroit. A single fast food store in Texas. Your workplace (or school) community. Write no more than a few phrases or brief sentences in each table cell. For the purposes of this particular assessment, it is not necessary to conduct exhaustive research or to investigate any particular real-world workplace. Instead, search for general information based on the type of workplace, its size, and its general location. Keep track of your resources in order to include them in your references list. In the Analysis section of the template, complete the following: Once you have completed the table, use the information to design a wellness plan you might implement for each of the three workplace cultures. Assume you are the only staff involved in implementing the plan, with an unlimited budget and the complete support of the organizational leaders. In three separate paragraphs, describe each plan and indicate how it takes into account the following: Prevention needs specific to the employees’ age groups and ethnicities. Potential dangers of the tasks performed in the workplace. The size of the employee population at the worksite. Finally, write a brief paragraph comparing and contrasting the notable differences between your wellness plans for each workplace culture. Part 2 Instructions Consider the following scenario: You are the worksite wellness manager at one of the three situations described above. Times have changed, and your employer is now experiencing tight economic times and must make budget cuts. The worksite wellness program seems to be a money pit, and the organizational leadership is deciding whether or not to have it dropped. Write a one- to two-page professional letter to the leadership justifying the value of your program. Use a bit of creativity. Address the following in your letter: What positive behavior changes due to your worksite wellness program can you show? What cost savings can you show? How might you change the program to produce better financial outcomes? Remember, leadership is finance-oriented, so they will want to hear facts that support your justification. Search for articles on this subject to support your statements, and gather statistics that show real dollar-cost savings. Provide complete APA references for your resources.
